Public Notice of Vacancy on Village Council

The Village of Cleves has a vacancy on the Village Council and is seeking qualified residents who are interested in serving the Village.

Interested individuals must submit a cover letter and resume to Village Administrator Justin Habig at justin.habig@clevesoh.gov by 12:00 p.m. on August 30, 2026. Materials may also be delivered in person to 92 Cleves Avenue by the stated deadline.

Interviews will be held on September 2, 2026, between 6:30 and 8:30PM. Interview time slots will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Qualifications - Ohio Revised Code§ 731.12

Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 731.12, each 1nember of the Village Council 1nust have resided in the Village for at least one year immediately preceding election and must be a qualified elector of the Village. A Council member 1nay not hold any other public office, be interested in any contract with the Village, or be employed by the Village, except that a member may serve as a notary public, a member of the state militia, or as a volunteer firefighter of the Village, provided no additional compensation is received for such volunteer

service.

Any member who ceases to meet these qualifications or who removes residence from the Village shall forfeit the office.
